There was a lorry parked on my side of the road. I went to overtake this lorry as there was enough time to do so without causing an intervention with the car coming the opposite way. I am fully aware that the rules are to let the person on the clear side of the road to go first but I felt I had time, and I think if this was to be a misjudgement at all then it did not excuse his behaviour. He sped up, trapping me between the end of the lorry on my left and his van was blocking me from moving forward. He was shouting aggressively and so I reversed as quickly as possible as he kept moving forward in a threatening tone. I’d like to add that I am clearly a young, new driving female who was alone at the time and not communicating in an aggressive tone. I reversed as quickly as possible, not very well as I was intimidated and just wanted to stop the situation. Once I had returned to the correct side of the road, again behind the lorry that was parked up, the man stopped his van next to my window so I again could not move forward and began to hurl words of abuse. Words such as ‘cunt’ and ‘just watch’ were used in a very threatening and intimidating manner. Throughout this process I did not wind my window down through fear of encouraging something violent, and mouthed repeatedly ‘alright, calm down, I’m sorry’. The driver in the van continued to point at me and act extremely aggressively which made me feel very intimidated, resulting in me being reduced to tears while still at the window engaging in a conversation with him. Finally, he began to drive away, still looking back in a threatening manner and pointing. I drove away when it was safe to do so, and went straight home which was only 2 minutes away from the location, still extremely shaken and upset from the incident.
All I can remember is that he had a black beanie hat on. Pale, white skin. No facial hair. Unfortunately that’s all I can remember. He was driving a white ‘highway maintenance’ van. He looked young, perhaps in his 20s.
